Mini-pumpkin Catapults
On October 27, 2013, the Curiosity Hacked members of South Orange County developed wood-working skills by building mini-pumpkin catapults following the Little Ogre instructions at: http://www.stormthecastle.com/
Mr. Mike demonstrated how to safely operate the electric saw and drill press. Most members brought their own mini-pumpkins, hand-held power drill and shared the pilot hole and phillips-head screwdriver bits. Members cut and drilled all the pieces from 1×2 pieces of wood. The project took a little longer than the anticipated 2 hours, but nevertheless, each member gained familiarity with some basic wood working tools and skills. In celebration of the upcoming holiday, a Halloween and Harry Potter themed potluck was enjoyed by all afterwards.
